What if you could skip forward in time, but never back?
Molly Jacobs has always wished for more time in life. But for Molly, time doesn’t work the same as it does for others because she suffers from time skipping. At least, that’s what she calls it.
From the age of seven, Molly discovers her ability to jump into the future. But it doesn't come without a price. With each time skip, memories of those seconds, minutes, or hours of her life are lost.
Molly never cared until Rhett enters her life. Now, time has meaning, and as they grow closer together, pieces of their time together disappears. Molly needs to learn discipline and control, before she loses the essence of her life.
Skipping Forward eBook Bethany Wicker
Having read all of Bethany Wicker's previous books, I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I downloaded Skipping Forward. When I learned the concept involved time travel, I imagined a plot line would develop that involved a serial killer or a disaster or using her powers to join a secret government agency or something. To her credit, Ms. Wicker kept the story small-scale, concentrating instead on Molly's life and how her abilities affected it. We never learn exactly why or how Molly is able to "skip forward" - essentially fast-forwarding through a period of time in her life and having no memory of that time afterwards - only that she can. And you know what? I'm good with that.
With the help of Rhett, a charming young man with supernatural abilities of his own, Molly is able to not only better control her skipping, but travel back into the past. However, when a terrible tragedy occurs, she doggedly tries to fix the past, only to find out things are never that simple. The story, rather than focusing on the mechanics of time travel, a prospect that would either be full of technical jargon or confusing overlaps, instead deals with how Molly, a teenage girl, deals with said tragedy. We see her teenage, high-school life, her friends, her romance with Rhett, through her eyes, and I really connected with her character, probably more than I've connected with any of the main characters in Ms. Wicker's previous books.
After her werewolf series, this was quite a departure for Ms. Wicker, and I must say, I'm quite impressed with the results. You will be too.

Skipping Forward eBook Bethany Wicker Reviews
I really enjoy Bethany Wicker's books but I think this is her best by far. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, filled with joy and heartbreak. Such a different and unique journey. Pick this up today. You will not be disappointed.
The premise of this story is well done.
Molly has the ability to skip time. It's something that has plagued her for her whole life. Her parents think she's crazy, that it's all in her head. You see, when she skips time, she has no memory of the time she skipped. Her parents think she's being rebellious. They don't believe her when she says she's time travelling.
When tragedy strikes, Mia does everything she can to change the outcome.
This is where time travel gets a little tricky. What happens in one timeline doesn't happen in another, and there's a lot of back and forth.
Molly's gift is an awful burden for a senior in high school. She almost has no will to live a normal life until she meets Rhett. If you are a fan of teen romance this time traveling adventure is for you. Not only touching on the importance of the ones you love but dealing with the existential question of existence and identity. Molly's journey is much more than mastering her gift, it's mastering herself. With the power to skip through time she knows better than anyone how important it is to treasure the present.
This book will hit you with high highs and low lows, playing on your heart strings before finally offering a comforting conclusion that ties it all together.
What would you do if faced with life altering decisions? This is exactly what Molly finds out
I felt sorry for Molly. She's forced to live with an ability she deems worthless, an ability nobody but her best friend believes in, and generally, she doesn't have a high opinion of herself. Then Rhett comes to town with his own ability and finally, she has someone to relate with, and the story unfolds from there.
I loved the concept of this story. It moved me to tears. Moreover, the positive lesson you learn only enhances it.
I will not give any more information because of spoilers, but I do encourage you to read it. Just have a tissue handy.
I was given an Arc copy and voluntarily chose to leave a review.
I'm going to start with the cover and work my way it.
It's gorgeous. Not like "okay, that looks nice" but more like "freaking fantastic!" They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but that doesn't exactly apply here because yes the cover draws you in, but the story keeps you there.
Molly is a teenage girl who is slowly losing bits of her life. She has a little habit of jumping forward in time. She can't control it. Usually it isn't for very long - a few hours or days - but the problem is that she can't jump back and doesn't remember what she's missed.
It isn't until she meets Rhett that she begins to realize that maybe she can gain a greater control over time. Maybe she can go back. After tragedy strikes, that's all she wants to do - even though the consequences are jarring.
This is my favorite Bethany Wicker book - and I have read them ALL! A perfect cover, good story, competent writing, and professional editing makes it the full package.
